The Crocodile Crochet-A-Long

We're making our way into winter and we're happy to bring you a very special cozy garment from a very special designer. We'll let Lianka introduce herself below but don't forget to submit your finished Elemental Triangle Cowl to our gallery here for the chance to win. We're giving away $500 worth of gift cards!

Now onto our November CAL...

What we are making...

I’m Lianka Azulay, designer from Bonita Patterns, also known as “Crocodile Stitch addict.” This November, I’m proud to pair up with the makers of my favorite hooks in the world, Furls, to host a CAL for my Crocodile Stitch Fingerless Gloves.

Sample in Merino Dream Sunset Shades colorway

These whimsical gloves feature the unique Crocodile Stitch and a knit-look crocheted ribbed pattern. This is a quick project, ideal for a last-minute gift, and they are also popular among those who sell finished crochet items.

If you have been wanting to learn the Crocodile Stitch, this is a great chance to learn, step-by-step, with support if you have questions. The project is rated "Intermediate," but if you are an adventurous beginner and know the basic crochet stitches (slip stitch, chain and double crochet) you can tackle this with the help of our CAL!

Sample in Merino Dream Rainforest Shades colorway

What you will need...

We are using two options of self-stripping yarn from Bonita Yarns.

You will need two skeins or 400 yards of sport (baby) weight yarn. My samples use Sunset Shades (yellows and browns) and Rainforest Shades (greens and browns), but I have picked other four beautiful colorways for this project. You can choose your color HERE.

The second option is the 100% acrylic yarn for those allergic to wool or who prefer machine washable pieces. You'll need two skeins of this yarn. You can choose your color HERE.

Use promo code ‘BONITAFURLS’ at check out to get 15% off your yarn.

NOTE: Some yarn customers were expecting to receive the pattern online. The notice you see on the receipt is regarding my premium (paid) patterns. The Crocodile Stitch Fingerless Gloves is FREE and will not be sent to you by email. You'll learn it in weekly installments here in our CAL.

Issues, questions with your yarn order? Email orders@bonitapatterns.com.

We will be using these tools:

*Odyssey F/3.75 mm hook

* Stitch marker

* Small embroidery needle for weaving in your ends

Merino Dream Yarn Collection (50% wool, 50% acrylic)

Dream Baby Yarn Collection (100% acrylic)

Bonita Yarns Dream Baby Collection

Go ahead and get your yarn in these beautiful colors while you can and while supplies last. In the September and October CALs, so many people joined in that a few participants experienced delays in getting their yarn.

We'll be posting a quick Crocodile stitch tutorial next Monday (Nov 14th) and then the instructions for the first part of this exciting pattern on November 21st. Stay tuned for more crochet goodness. For now, have fun with our November Crochet-A-Long Giveaway.

      November 9th, 2016

Hey everybody! Shortly into our CALs we realized that our out-of-the-box blog comment system wouldn't let us reply to your comments.

We've since installed Disqus, above, which allows you guys to respond to each other and us to reply to your questions; seems like a no-brainer!

We will continue to display existing comments from the old comment system on all existing blog posts. All future commenting will be done through Disqus. Enjoy!

I’m happy to take part in this & bought my yarn. However, it’s been 24 hours and I’ve not received the link for the pattern. The email address to contact them kicks back. Is anyone else having a problem obtaining the pattern?

These look awesome! I have been debating learning to do a crocodile stitch and make fingerless gloves, but every pattern I found were for the short gloves. I can’t wait to join this CAL!

I am loving these gloves! I’d rather do them in solid colors for my family since that is what we usually choose. Of course, if I win, I could make them as well as 3 of the patterns in those gorgeous colors AND use a Furl Crochet Hook! Thanks for the awesome chance to win!

My 16-year-old daughter is going to love the wrist warmers in crocodile stitch. I am making these for her to match a pair of booties I am making her for her now in the same crocodile stitch.

HI, I voted for the next CAL, but I would really like to see one for boot toppers. That wasn’t an option on your list. Thanks for doing the CALs. They have been a lot of fun!

Write now due to certain circumstances that I was unfortunately unaware that was going to happen; I am not able to order anything at all right now. There are some things that we are unable to prevent when we don’t expect any of it or not be able to do anything about it at all. Until now I have to use what I can get here where I live in Texas to use for these patterns but the colors are very beautiful and I think but I am not sure that I have seen colors like that here but you mentioned baby sport yarn. I don’t believe I ever used that so what is the weight of the yarn going to be? That is what they use here the weight life a 4 or a 2.

Will the total amount of yarn be used? The september project did left a lot of yarn. I am looking at a skein Malabrigo Aroyo, 335 yards.

      Thank you
