Embossed Crochet Vest Furls May CAL

Embossed Crochet Vest in Dream Swirl in "Oh Jungleland"

by Bonita Yarns

Hello, lovelies! I’m thrilled to be back to host a new Furls CAL!

What are we making...

This time we are going to crochet the “Embossed Crochet Vest.” The main feature of this design is a motif using the knit-look crochet technique featured on my best-selling book “Learn Embossed Crochet.” The vest also includes a decorative edging in Crocodile Stitch, so you get two of my favorite crochet techniques in one pattern!

This Bohemian-style circular vest flatters any body type, and is a perfect addition to your own handmade closet, or an amazing one of a kind gift for a loved one. The instructions cover sizes S through 3X, because all lovely ladies deserve pretty handmade accessories!

Like most of my patterns, this project is rated intermediate. The skills required to complete this project are: crocheting in the round (rnd), chain (ch), slip stitch (sl st), single crochet (sc), double crochet (dc), V-stitch (V-st: dc 1, ch 1, dc 1), front post double crochet (FPdc) and back post double crochet (BPdc).

Remember, do not let the look of a project stop you from trying it out and adding to your crocheting skills, no matter how hard it may seem in a picture! CALs are great tools for venturing outside your crocheting comfort zone, and Furls CALs are some of the best at bringing together professional designers and a worldwide group of crocheters at all experience levels.

What will you need...

We Will Be Using These Yarns:

I’m also very excited to launch two new Bonita Yarns collections (my own lovely yarn brand!), chosen especially for this CAL. The first collection, Dream Swirl (Sport weight, #2, 50% cotton, 50% acrylic), featured in May CAL pictures, is a long transition, gradient and self-stripping. The second collection, Dream Cotton (Sport weight, #2, 50% cotton, 50% bamboo) is available in lovely solid colors. Both yarn contents are non-allergic and ideal for year-round wear.

I tested eight different yarns and fiber contents for this vest design, and these two were hands down the besty composition of fibers, colors, and feel for making head-turning pieces.

A Note About Comments

Furls Crochet Team

November 9th, 2016

Hey everybody! Shortly into our CALs we realized that our out-of-the-box blog comment system wouldn't let us reply to your comments.

We've since installed Disqus, above, which allows you guys to respond to each other and us to reply to your questions; seems like a no-brainer!

We will continue to display existing comments from the old comment system on all existing blog posts. All future commenting will be done through Disqus. Enjoy!
