Business Academy Rviews: Lesson 2

Posted on April 30, 2014 by Brittany Decker | 0 Comments

wow!!! My head is spinning at the moment lol. Lots of information in this first lesson to swallow, specially that English isn't my birth language (loved the accent). I crochet, knit and bobbin lace (la dentelliere = lace maker) so...if I understood correctly, I must choose one product I like to make, like scarves or hats; to be able to pin point whom I'm aiming for? And stick with that choice till the end... or is it as an example for this lesson? ( yes I love and need to make/create new designs for apparels and accessories... Im bad I know)

A big thank you for giving me a chance with my dream!

With lesson 2 it's getting clearer.Finding my own *Island* I do understand the concept, the story was very well done. It's refreshing to hear business concepts with crocheters-knitters-fiber artists in mind. Finally someone understand *us*.  Have a great Easter week-end,

Business Academy Reviews: Lesson 3

Posted on April 30, 2014 by Brittany Decker | 0 Comments

Just watched/listened to the 3 lesson audio and again i loved it. Harrison touch a sensitive cord tho...hiring someone to *help raise our baby*...maybe it's because i'm a mother but it's difficult to imagine someone else doing...what you are supposed to do...I know I'm not super woman lol...I can't do it all... but I see where I may need help in the * letting go* part lol. I would ve loved getting the extra audio lesson , but it's sold out for one thing..thats great news for you guys :)...but the other reason I cant get it...feels stupid to say this...since i want to start my own business, i really don't have any money to spend on *extras*...can barely pay bills and eat...anyway..great lesson again this week,

thank you so much for doing all of this for us *hugs* <3 may you all be blessed <3

I have a question and it's a big one... How do i pick/find *that* special thing that i do, my island has Harrison had put it last week in his lesson 2? In all the things I love to make,design...how do i choose one? how did Harrison ended up making crochet hooks... wood artist usually aim *bigger*, furniture , sculptures etc ... once he chose to make crochet hooks... did he ever wondered how he would find employees good enough to make them too? I'm a perfectionist maniac when it comes to my work. They say perfection isn't on this life...I say wrong...perfection can be achieved in fiber arts. Is there any ways for me to find/choose my special island?

Business Academy Reviews: Lesson One

Posted on April 27, 2014 by Brittany Decker | 0 Comments

Thank you so much for this information! I have been thinking about starting my own business, knitting & crocheting items for craft fairs in my area and doing some commission work as well. This information is very helpful!

- Bobbi Klein

I'm at the pre-natal stage in the process. I love to crochet and I'm considering offering what I make, for sale. I'm still looking for a niche that will make me different, so I'm having trouble with the posed questions.

- Alice Darter

Really good and light introduction on this! I look forward to next weeks lesson and completing the assignment. Will I be getting emails every week when each video is released? With my own crochet business already in motion, I am excited and prepared to learn to further it! Thank you for the opportunity!

- Erin

Thank you for the opportunity. I have been slowly creating a crochet business. I always feel like I am missing something. This first lesson has already got me thinking. I'm looking forward the the next installments!

- Audrey Cook

I loved this first lesson. Having spent 15 years in IT marketing, the language of your message was familiar and included techniques I've used for years. I had to laugh out loud when I realized that throughout the many years I have thought about trying to start a business with my crafts, it never occurred to me to apply the techniques to myself. D'oh! Thanks.

- Myrna

Harrison,

First, thank you for including me in this business resource! I found your video very intuitive, instructive, and quite clear to follow! I am running two businesses at the moment (Baca Creations, Design Wars Challenge), but I don't feel that I am running them as successfully as possible.

I look forward to reading the information you've attached, and to the coming lessons!

Thank you again so much for reaching out to me with this!

- Salena

I was very excited and surprised to receive this offer. I cannot wait until the next lesson. Am looking forward to the next step.
Thank you for this opportunity!

- Debbie Williams

Thank you Harrison for the opportunity to learn what Sara did to have a successful business. I appreciate the help and hope that I learn how to grow my business to the next level. I look forward to Lesson 2.

- Susie Reno

You know, I'm not a natural seller, if I do well at craft shows it's only because of my product, I think this could help me a lot. I appreciate your sharing!

- Cindy

This makes sense and seems very clear and easy, but I have tried for at least 3 years now to get a business off the ground. I am grateful to you for this opportunity and hope that you can help me figure it out. I think my big problem is I am a multimedia artist and it is hard to narrow it down to a few products that fit into this profile and I have to work full time in order to have the money for supplies which does not leave much time for productivity for the business. I hope you address financing as we go along.

- Jennifer Lucas

Great start! Just your introduction has me looking at my yarn business with new eyes. I am looking forward to the rest of the lessons. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and perspective!

- Nikki

Business Academy Reviews: Lesson Two

Posted on April 15, 2014 by Brittany Decker | 0 Comments

Thank you again Harrison, lesson two was as good as one!  I am selling my crocheted items in a retail store at the moment and I may have found my island!  Will let you know!  Thanks again, I love learning new things and I love listening to your voice, your accent is awesome!!

Thank you,  Susie

This second lesson in particular has been very very good for me. You put it in such a way that I can mash things out in my head and figure out a direction of where to go to sell my items. My items are handmade--there is no replication from one to another but they are similar in technique. You made the path of "where" to go to sell them much clearer to me--farmer's markets, art shows, etc are nice but labour intensive and to be honest--expensive. The tables cost around $120 a day here and most people walk, browse and don't buy. They may call later and buy but not at that time. Just not worth it--websites are hard to get out there so that people are driven to it and see your product. FB as a marketing avenue is useless now for the most part since they (FB) changed who sees your pages--I have a unique product. Something only a few can replicate and even less would want to--the average person could not. Yet, it is botanical, fiber arts and very pretty---unique for home decor. Wall art or pillows-now I"m getting the how to get it to the people I need to. Thank you for this--as a person who is not a business/marketing person. This is SO helpful!!!
