Free Crochet Summer Tank Top

Free Crochet Summer Tank Top

Posted by Lorene Eppolite on

Simple yet flirty make up The Daisy Summer Tank Top. This top is light and airy making it a go to top for those hot summer days. It is perfect to throw over your bathing suit for a day of playing on the beach or pair it with a light sweater for a cute date night look.

The construction is so easy! Simples stitches and shaping make this a beginner friendly pattern. The top mostly consists of double crochet in the back loop only and I also include instructional photos for the picot edging, It’s easier than it looks!

This top is easily customizable, prefer more of a cropped top? Just remove some rows from the body section. Keep in mind that the two panels are identical so whatever changes you make to the front panel also carry over to the back panel.

This CAL will be broken down into 3 parts. Part 1, we will work the bottom half of the body for both panels. Part 2, we will move onto the top shaping and straps. Part 3, We will then finish with the Picot edging and seaming the 2 panels together.

ABOUT OUR DESIGNER

Hello fellow yarnies! My name is Ashlie and I am the designer behind Brindle Babe Designs. I love creating simple yet beautiful western boho style knit and crochet patterns that require as little seaming as possible, can I get an amen?! Even though I do miss the California trees and mountains I am happy to now call Arizona my home with my boyfriend and doggie Lola. The 100+ degree summers of Arizona don’t stop this yarn addict from creating all year around! I hope you follow along and love this top as much as I do!

Notes

- Tank top is designed with 2” of positive ease. If you are in between sizes please size down.

- Top is worked in 2 identical panels starting from the bottom and working up.

- Bottom half of body is worked first, then you will work decrease rows for the neck shaping and continue by working the straps. Yarn is then attached to the bottom edge, to work the picot edging.

- Top has a small split seam at the bottom.

- Ch 2 does NOT count as a stitch.

- At the end of each row is a number in brackets which includes the total number of stitches for that row.

PART ONE

Hi there! This week we are going to be working on the bottom half of the body. It is worked from the bottom up making a simple rectangle. If you would like to adjust the length do so here by adding or removing rows, make sure to make the front and back match! You will repeat the steps for both the front and back panel.

Body

Ch 70 (78, 86, 96, 104, 112, 122, 130)

Row 1:  dc into 3rd ch (counts as 1 dc), dc in each st across, turn.

Row 2:  ch2, dcblo in each st across, turn. [68, 76, 84, 94, 102, 110, 120, 128]

Repeat Row 2: an additional  28(28,28, 28, 27, 27, 27,27) rows

That's it for this week, we will begin the neck shaping next week, see you then!

PART TWO

How’s everyone doing? This week we will be working the neck shaping and then move on to the straps. We will first split our piece in half and begin our decrease rows starting on the right hand side. You will repeat the same steps to the left hand side. Once your shaping is finished you will then work the rows to make your straps. Make sure to follow the same steps for your back panel!

Right Side Neck Shaping

Count 34 (38, 42, 47, 51, 55, 60, 64) sts and place a st marker. This will split your panel in half for the right and left side top shaping.
