But even if you aren’t about all the pumpkin spike lattes and pumpkin Oreo cookies, this is still a great pattern for you. The Hello Pumpkin Pillow is a festive fall décor piece for any chair or couch. And if you love everything pumpkin, also a way to show off that pumpkin pride.

I’m Briana from Briana K Designs and I’m so excited to be here with another pattern. I previously designed an Infinity Cable Shawl which uses a new and fun technique to work popping crochet cables without gaps and holes. This last year I’ve also fallen more and more in love with colorwork and I just can’t help but make all the home décor items. When I’m not playing with yarn I’m usually outside with my family and friends. I love living in Florida and everyday feels like a tropical vacation. Give me wine, music, friends, and a pool and I’m in my happy place. But by the evenings I’m always ready to wind down with my favorite TV shows and yarn.

Notes
- Please note, matching gauge both horizontal and vertical can be difficult. Extra rows can be added at the top if needed so it is more important to match the stitch gauge versus the row gauge. This pattern also has some ease to fit over a pillow.
- This pattern is worked from bottom up in rows and in two pieces. The front panel will also work a buttonhole flap to secure the top of the crochet pillow. The front and the back panels will be slip stitched together once completed.
- After the end of each row turn and ch 1. The ch 1 does not count as a stitch.
- Since there is a wrong side and a right side to the pillow panels, I used a combination of intarsia and carrying yarn across the back for the colorwork. Experiment and see what works best for you.
- A burlap back can be used in substitute for a crochet pillow back.

At this point each row adds to the design and we can see where we are headed. I find crochet tapestry similar to doing a puzzle, only less pieces flying everywhere. If you are having a hard time with yarn tangles, I want to remind you again to work with yarn bobbins. While it takes a minute to set up, it’s so worth not untangling yarn later.

You’ve done the bulk of the work! Now to get the finishing details done so you can proudly display your love for pumpkin and fall. There are two choices for the back panel. One is to create a fabric with yarn. This will work up much faster than the front as we are only using one color.
Another option I’ve fallen in love with is burlap fabric. It is very inexpensive, time saving, and adds a beautiful texture. If you haven’t noticed yet this pillow is reversible, and the burlap really adds a fun feature if you are up to trying it out.
Back Panel:
-With white or color of choice, chain 81 and start the first row in the second chain from hook.
-Single crochet a total of 86 rows to create the back panel.
-Fasten off and weave in ends.

Attaching Panels Together:
Place the front and back panels together with wrong sides facing. If using burlap cut two pieces approximately one inch longer on each side of pillow. Your crochet hook will be able to work through the holes in the burlap. Using white yarn, slip stitch from top of one side of pillow (where the panels meet or at row 86, not over the flap), around the bottom, and up the other side. I found by slip stitching with a tight tension really makes some crisp edges, but you do not want puckering. Fasten off and weave in ends. Flip pillow so the right side is facing out and the seams are on the inside.
Attaching Buttons:
With the back panel facing, fold front panel down over the top of the back panel and with stitch markers mark the row where each button will be placed. Using a yarn needle and green yarn, sew each button in place.
Place a 20x20 pillow inside the cover and enjoy!
