May Ami CAL - Ice Cream You Scream Week Three

May Ami CAL - Ice Cream You Scream Week Three

Posted by Brenna Eaves on

Hi everyone, welcome to Week Three of this month's Ami CAL! This week we're finishing our ice creams with a cone!

Here's the supply list again, in case it passed you by.

To achieve the larger size of this design with less overall work, we'll be holding two strands of worsted weight yarn together and using a size K hook. Make sure the tension is the same for both strands of yarn as you go!

Try holding an off-white and light tan together to make your cone look more like a waffle cone!

FO and weave in the ends

STUFF the cone firmly. Grab the mama scoop and make sure it is stuffed firmly.

Using the ends from the big scoop, thread your yarn needle (both strands of yarn) and whipstitch the last round of the cone to the BLO of the last round of the mama scoop (beneath the scallops). The big scoop is only 4 stitches less than the cone, so the two match up almost stitch-for-stitch.

Add more stuffing as necessary while you’re sewing. Weave in the ends.

Make sure the baby scoop is stuffed, then thread both FO ends onto your yarn needle. Sew the baby scoop to the top of the mama scoop, either perfectly centered on the top of the bigger scoop or slightly off-kilter as pictured below.

Make sure the stuffing is firm before closing up the hole.

Weave in all remaining ends, and you're finished!

That's it for this month's Ami CAL, thanks for joining us! Make sure to pop in to the Fun With Furls Facebook Group and the Ravelry Project page to share your photos and admire everyone else’s crochet handiwork too!

Happy Crocheting!
