PATTERN DETAILS
This shawl is constructed with a filet crochet method, which, if you aren’t familiar with filet crochet, it is more or less a combination on Double Crochet, Chains, and Skipped Stitches that will ultimately create an image, how cool right??
This was my first time doing any kind of filet crochet, let alone writing my first filet crochet pattern. In my experience, there was a lot to keep track of and it felt easy to forget where you left off. So I decided to structure this pattern with a diagram to help you out!
The concept is pretty easy, there are a few exceptions, but ultimately the Black Squares = 3 Double Crochet, and the White Squares = 1 Double Crochet, Chain 2, Skip 2.
The only exceptions are the first and last square of each row, the details of which are specified in the pattern itself.
On this diagram, each box of each row is numbered to help you keep track of where you are in the pattern. This means the pattern is in a numerical list by box, rather than in paragraph format. If you want to read a little bit more about how Filet Crochet is worked up and a few diagrams of how the stitches are supposed to be lined up. This article is how I learned to do it for this pattern.
The shawl will be worked from the biggest base of the triangle to the smallest tip.
