Andean Peaks Crochet Hat

Posted on February 06, 2017 by Bethany Dearden | 0 Comments

Hello friend! I'm Bethany, and I am the designer and blogger behind Whistle and Ivy, a creative crochet blog. February's Furls CAL is this cute and cozy Andean Peaks Crochet Hat, with a lovely tri-stripe pattern and gorgeous peak stitches. It's an easy stitch, but it has a stylish effect.  This chic hat works up rather quickly and the CAL includes instructions for a slouchy-style hat as well as a beanie-fit hat. Both styles are so well-loved that I knew including both versions would be a good idea.

This week we will be completing our project by adding the hood to our capelet. The hood is made as a rectangular piece, and will be folded and sewn closed on the back edge during finishing. It has been a great joy to interact crocheting a-long with you! Seeing your projects coming to life is priceless. Thank you for being such a supportive and fun group. I hope to see you again and have more fun with Furls!

January CAL Part One - Crocodile Stitch Hooded Capelet

The Starks may still say "Winter is Coming," but the sky and thermometer outside my window right now tells me "Winter is HERE." So, we offer our January project, the Crocodile Stitch Hooded Capelet, to ward off the Winter and the White Walkers. And, as a Game of Thrones and Crochet fanatic, I am certain that this lovely design will receive the seal of approval from Daenerys Targaryen, "First of Her Name, Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar, and the First Men, Lady of the Seven Kingdoms, Protector of the Realm, Lady Paramount of the Crownlands, Princess of Dragonstone, Queen of Meereen, and Khaleesi of the Great Green Sea!" Let's get started...

December CAL Part 1 - Snow Capped Throw

Grab your supplies and let's get crocheting! The holidays are just around the corner, and I can't think of anything better than staying warm under a cozy crocheted blanket! In Part one of our CAL we will talk a bit about gauge, sizing, and make the main portion of the blanket!  When crocheting garments or wearable, gauge can be super important. But with blankets, it's not as big a deal - there's just a lot more wiggle room! The most important thing is that you get fabric coming off the hook that's not too loose or too tight. You don't want a blanket that's full of giant holes, but you also don't want one that's stiff as a board! The official gauge for this blanket is...
