Hello everyone, and welcome to Part One of the Furls Crochet June Amigurumi CAL - Max the Dragon!

So go on, grab your favorite beverage and your Furls crochet hook and let's get started! In Part One of this CAL we will be creating the head, eyelids, nostrils, ears, belly patch, head patch and horns.

Coming to the CAL party a little late, no worries you can find the supplies list right HERE! So gather your supplies and lets get started...

Abbreviations

ch-chain

sc-single crochet

inc-increase

dec-decrease

Head 

Rnd1: Starting at the the tip of your dragons nose with A - Light Periwinkle Yarn sc x 6 in a magic ring (6). Or you can also ch x 2 and do 6sc in the second chain from your hook (6).

Rnd2: Inc x 6 (12)

Rnd3: [Sc, inc] x 6 (18)

Rnd4-5: Sc x 18 (18)

Rnd6: [Sc x 2, inc] x 6 (24)

Rnd7-10: Sc x 24 (24)

Rnd11: [Sc, inc] x 12 (36)

Rnd12: You will be placing the safety eyes in this round, sc x 15, place a safety eye in the last stitch you just did (or you can add a stitch marker and come back to add the eyes later. Also if you are wanting eyelashes you are going to want to sew them on before you attach your eyes), sc x 5, place the second safety eye in the last stitch you just did, sc x 16 (36)

Rnd13: [Sc x 2, inc] x 12 (48)

Rnd14-18: Sc x 48 (48)

Rnd19: Sc x 6, dec x 5, sc x 14, dec x 5, sc x 8 (38)

Rnd20: Sc x 38 (38)

Rnd 21: [Sc x 4, dec] x 6, sc  x 2 (32) 

Rnd22: Sc x 32 (32)

Rnd23: Dec x 16 (16)

Rnd24: Stuff the head firmly, dec x 8 (8)

Rnd25: Dec x 4 (4)

Rnd26: Dec x 2, and fasten off and weave in the end and trim it.

Ear (Make 2)

Rnd1: Starting at the tip of the ear with A - Light Periwinkle Yarn sc x 6 in a magic ring (6). Or you can also ch x 2 and do 6sc in the second chain from your hook (6).

Rnd2-3: Sc x 6 (6)

Rnd4: [Inc, sc] x 3 (9)

Rnd5-6: Sc x 9 (9)

Rnd7: Sc, [sc, inc] x 4 (13)

Rnd8: Sc x 13 (13)

Rnd9: Sc, [sc x 2, inc] x 4 (17)

Rnd10: Sc x 17, leave a long tail and fasten off (you will use the tail to sew the ears to your dragon) (17)

Horns (make 2)

Rnd1: Starting at the the tip of your dragons horn with B - Cornmeal Yarn sc x 6 in a magic ring (6). Or you can also ch x 2 and do 6sc in the second chain from your hook (6).

Rnd2-5: Sc x 6, fasten off at the end of Rnd5 (6)

Nostrils and Eyelids (make 4) 

Row1: With A - Light Blue Periwinkle Yarn ch x 6 (6)

Row2: Turn, sc x 5, leave a long tail and fasten off 

(you will use the tail to sew the eyelids and nostrils  to your dragon) (17)

Belly Patch

Rnd1: Starting in the middle of the belly patch with B - Light Cornmeal Yarn sc x 6 in a magic ring (6). Or you can also ch x 2 and do 6sc in the second chain from your hook (6).

Rnd2: Inc x 6 (12)

Rnd3: [Sc, inc] x 6 (18)

Rnd4: [Sc x 2, inc] x 6 (24)

Row5: You will now be working on Rows not in the Round, Turn, ch, sc x 6 (6)

Row6: Turn, ch, dec, sc x 2, dec (4)

Row7: Turn, ch, sc x 4 (4)

Row8: Turn, ch, dec x 2 (2)

Rnd: Do not fasten off or turn, now sc around the entire piece and then fasten off

Head Patch

Row1: With B - Light Yellow Yarn ch x 3 (3)

Row2: Turn, sc x 2 (2)

Row3: Turn, ch, inc x 2 (4)

Row4-5: Turn, ch, sc x 4 (4)

Row6: Turn, ch, dec x 2, now you will fasten off (2)

Assembly

Stuff the head and weave in your end. Now sew the eyelids and nostrils onto your amigurumi. Sew on the ears, horns and head patch. You can keep the belly patch, you will use it in part two of the CAL.
