This month's sweet Amigurumi CAL's are sure to put you in the holiday spirit! Go on, pull out your Furls Crochet Hook, grab a steamy mug of your favorite hot beverage and curl up while creating your own little sweets! First up is the pattern for this adorable little Gingerbread Man! Let's begin with the supply list below. Happy crocheting!
Supplies List
Furls Crochet Hook Size D/3.5mm- I used the Blueberry Candy Shop
Red Heart Super Saver Yarn (less than one skein 198g of each shade, Buff, Red, White and Green)
7.5mm safety eyes
Black embroidery thread
Stuffing, scissors, needle
Abbreviations
ch-chain
sc-single crochet
inc-increase
dec-decrease
The Pattern (make 2, for the front and back of your gingerbread man)
Row1: With Buff yarn ch x 6 (6)
Row2: Turn, sc x 5 (5)
Row3: Turn, ch, inc x 2, sc, inc x 2 (9)
Row4-5: Turn, ch, sc x 9 (9)
Row6: You will be placing the safety eyes in this Row. Turn, ch, inc, sc x 3, place your first safety eye in the last stitch that you just did, sc x 2, place your second safety eye in the last stitch, sc x 2, inc (11)
Row 7: Turn, ch, sc x 11 (11)
Row8: Turn, ch, dec x 2, sc x 3, dec x 2 (7)
Row9: Turn, ch, sc x 7 (7)
Row10: Turn, ch, dec, sc x 3, dec (5)
Row11: Turn, ch, inc x 2, sc, inc x 2 (9)
Row12: Turn, ch, inc, sc x 7, inc (11)
Row13-14: Turn, ch, sc x 11 (11)
Row15: Turn, ch, dec, sc x 7, dec (9)
Row16-21: Turn, ch, sc x 9 (9)
Row22: You will be starting the first leg in this Row. Turn, ch, sc x 4 (4)
Row23-24: Turn, ch, sc x 4 (4)
Row25: Turn, ch, dec x 2 (2)
Row26: Turn, ch, dec, fasten off (1)
Second Leg (this pattern is also used to create the arms)
Row1: First figure out where you would like your second leg (or arms) to be on your Gingerbread Man, then insert your hook into the stitch where you would like the leg (or arm) to start and with Buff yarn sc x 4 across (4)
Row2-3: Turn, ch, sc x 4 (4)
Row4: Turn, ch, dec x 2 (2)
Row5: Turn, ch, dec, fasten off (1)
**Special Note: The arms of your Gingerbread Man are worked the same as the second leg. Once you have all of your arms and legs completed, Do not fasten off on your last stitch, instead single crochet around your entire Gingerbread Man then fasten off.**
Gumdrops (make three)
Rnd1: In a magic with Red or Green yarn sc x 6, or ch x 2 and sc x 6 in the second chain from your hook, fasten off (6)
White Trim (make four, one for each arm and leg)
Row1: With White yarn ch x 10, fasten off (10)
Hair Bow (you also use this pattern to make the bow tie)
Row1: With Red or Green yarn ch x 5 (5)
Row2: Turn, sc x 4 (4)
Row3: Turn, ch, sc x 4 (4)
Rnd4: Do not turn, sc around the entire bow and then fasten off.
Assembly: Weave in all ends on the legs and arms and trim them. Now hold both the front and back of your gingerbread man together (make sure the neat edges where you single crocheted around the entire body are facing out on both sides), using a needle sew both pieces together, be sure to stuff your gingerbread man as you are sewing him closed. Now sew on the gumdrops, bow, and white trim. Using black thread sew on a mouth and eyebrows. That’s it, you now have your very own soft and sweet little gingerbread man!
