Free Crochet Pattern - Meridian Top

Posted on June 01, 2021 by Chelsea Obermann | 0 Comments

Aloha Lovely Furlers! Summer has officially arrived and I’m excited to share some tropical inspiration with you. I would like to introduce the Meridian Top to you. I’ve been inspired to design a top that can be layered. If you’re heading out to shop, meeting up with a friend for coffee, or heading out to dinner you can wear the Meridian Top over a tank top, short sleeve shirt or long sleeve shirt.

For the Meridian Top I used Furls Wander Acrylic Yarn in Dragon Fruit. It’s a medium worsted yarn that has a beautiful shine and wonderful color choices.

Wow! Now you have a Front and Back and it’s time to seam, add the sleeve cuffs, and make an i-cord. It may seem like a lot but you’ve come so far and the finishing touches are what bring a project together.

Finishing
With RS facing each other, join shoulders by matching sts. Sew shoulders with a mattress stitch or your choice of stitch.

Join sides in same way, leaving 6.5 (7, 7.5, 8, 8.5) (9, 9.5, 10, 10.5) in. (16.5 (18, 19, 20, 22) (23, 24, 25.5, 27) cm) open for arm holes and 3.5 (3.5, 3.5, 3.5, 4) (4, 4, 4, 4) in. (9 (9, 9, 9, 10) (10, 10, 10, 10) cm) open from bottom of Back at lower edges for side slits.

Sleeve Cuff
Note: Sleeve Cuffs are worked in rnds without turning at the beg of rnds.
From RS, join with a sl st in underarm of either armhole.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, work 42 (48, 48, 54, 54) (60, 60, 66, 66) sc evenly around armhole opening; join with sl st in first sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 4 (counts as dc, ch 2) dc in first st, *sk 2 sts, 5dc in same st, sk 2 sts, (dc, ch 2, dc) in same st*, rep * to * ending with sk 2 sts, 5dc in same st, sk 2 sts, sl st to ch-4.
Fasten off.

Rep Sleeve Cuff on the other armhole.

Meridian Top Close Up

To make an i-cord, put a slip knot on your hook and ch 2. Sk first ch and insert hook into next ch, insert hook in remain ch, you will have 3 loops on your hook. *Carefully remove 2 loops from hook and pinch them, yarn over and pull through loop on hook, insert hook into next pinched loop, yarn over and pull through that loop, insert hook into last pinched loop, yarn over and pull through*. Rep * to * until you have desired length or 32 (35, 40, 45, 48) (56, 60, 63, 67) in. (81 (89, 107, 114, 122) (142, 152, 160, 170) cm).

Weave in ends.
Insert i-cord through 2 keyholes on back center of top at desired height.
